Why you need Lime treatment for a perfect green lush lawn?

As the clock ticks into March,  and the temperature warms up, the quest of a healthy green lush lawn is becoming urgent.  The idea of a well-kept lawn greeting you after every long working day and having the perfect lawn as the backdrop for social gathering and quality family time has been calling.

Nobody wants to hang out on a weedy, patchy and yellow lawn.  If you have a lawn that is discolored and grass is sparse, it is a sign that the pH balance of your yard is out of place.  One of the effective methods for correcting the problem is to add lime to your lawn to restore depleted nutrients.  Today we are going to talk about lime treatment.

What is LIME treatment?

Lime is ground limestone, a rock formed primarily by accumulation of organic remains such as shells or coral, and it consists mainly of calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate. For a lime treatment, we use a rotary spreader to spread the lime to your lawn.  It is not that the more the lime, the better. Too much lime will increase acidity level and inhibit your lawn's ability to absorb nutrients and damage your lawn. So it is important to spread the right amount of lime based on your yard's condition.  At Green Grass, our lawn treatment specialist will test the pH level of your yard and deploy Lime treatment accordingly.

What is the best time for LIME treatment?

Early spring is great time to apply lime. Lime cannot be spread over a dry, wilted lawn or a soggy, wet lawn. A few weeks after the lime treatment, we will apply Pre-emergent and treat the weeds. Click here to learn more about our pre-emergent program.
